IITs, NITs likely to hold 6 round instead of 7 COUNSELLING ROUNDS

As dates of JEE-MAIN and JEE-ADVANCE are declared by HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. Jee main dates exam can be in between 18th to 23rd of July while the jee advance exam is on 23rd of August. As moving ahead the IITs sources says that the result of jee advance should be declare within a week. And also added that to reduce the number of counselling rounds. As earlier in counselling program 7 rounds are there but this time they are suggesting to take only 6 rounds. This means that to start the first-year classes ahead of October.
The joint panel comprises of Jee Chairmen of all IITs. IIT-DELHI to conduct jee-advance this year on 23 August.
There is counselling for 40,000 seats across 100 premier technical institutes, including IITs, NITs, IIITs and IIEST is likely to be held over just six rounds this year. Generally, every year all Centrally Funded Technical Institutes admit students over seven rounds of joint counselling.
The proposal to drop one round of counselling this year was floated by IIT-Delhi this week and forwarded to the Joint Implementation Committee for approval. Further, if accepted by all IITs, this proposal will be shared with the Central Seat Allocation Board, which co-ordinates for the admissions in IIEST, NITs and IIITs.
IIT-DELHI has also suggested to declare result within a week after the exam. Generally, it take approximately two weeks to announce results.

This will help these institutes to start the classes of first year student by early October. Source said that counselling may be held between September 1st to October 1st. Normally the most sessions of IITs starts from last week of July.
The academic calendar suggested by UGC of year 2020-21 link is given at the top of page. This calendar was proposed this month only. According to UGC calendar fresh batch of students may start from first week of September.
But this pandemic situation upsetting the schedule of competitive exam from last three months. But its seems to be imposible for IITs to start fresh new batch from first week of September.
