NASA VIPER ROVER TO TACKLE MOON DUST IN 2023

NASA is preparing to send astronauts back to the moon by 2024 as a part of ARTEMIS PROGRAM. 'Artemis was the Greek goddess of the moon'.

NASA has selected American private held company ASTROBOTIC. The company is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . This company is developing space robotics since 2008 for LUNAR surface and planetary missions. In 2023, NASA Volatiles Investigating Polar exploration Rover (VIPER) to the Moon's SOUTH POLE for further manned mission.

NASA has awarded Astrobotic private held company $199.5 million to deliver the VIPER rover to lunar surface since 2023 for preparation of ARTEMIS PROGRAM. To for success of Artemis program launches in year 2021, 2022 and 2023 for lander, payloads and rover will be step forward for year 2024.

This VIPER rover will pave the path for 2024 NASA astronauts to stay on MOON and step closer to lunar surface exploration. After this, they may send first WOMAN and next MAN to lunar surface in 2024 through Artemis program. Astrobotic is responsible for every end-to-end services for delivery of VIPER rover, with its GRIFFIN LANDER, also responsible from the launching from earth, and upto landing on the Moon.

MISSION 1:

PEREGRINE MISSION 2021

The first launch of one of its spacecraft, the PEREGRINE lunar lander is expected to take place in JULY 2021 on Vulcan Centaur Rocket. Astrobotic awarded $79.5 Million NASA contract to deliver paylods to the MOON. PEREGRINE, a version of VIPER rover and part of ARTEMIS program which will be the first American Spacecraft to land on the Moon since Apollo missions.

This payloads which are send to lunar surface in the next few years which will help them to study and realize the Moon's surface vast potential.

MISSION 2:

MOONRANGER 2022

This mission will be in LUNAR SOUTH POLE region in year 2022. This mission is named MOONRANGER by Astrobotic. Astrobotic awarded $5.6 Million NASA contract to deliver autonomous MOON rover. This autonomous rover will continue with operations on the MOON.

MISSION 3:

GRIFFIN LANDER

This Mission 3 will be launched in 2023 named GRIFFIN which will reach to LUNAR SOUTH POLE. Viper will explore the Lunar South Pole as a precursor to a Human Landing. This VIPER rover is approximately 1000 pound which will roam several miles and use its instruments for soil environments. Versions of this third mission will fly early in year 2021 and 2022 to help Viper performance on lunar surface. This rover will drill approx 3 feets into lunar surface.

As discussed earlier, about versions and parts of  the Artemis program which is an ongoing crewed spaceflight program for stay on MOON lunar surface in 2024, carried out by NASA, U.S. commercial spaceflight companies, and international partners. The one's problem is not solved yet to deal with the moon dust. The surface of moon at everywhere is covered with loose soil, which kicks up cloud whenever anything moved over it. The dust gets everywhere and stucks to absolutely everything. The particles are sharp because of wind erosion and them very abrasive. 

The dust could gum up many instruments which will be not good for any astronauts or may be dangerous to the health of astronauts. NASA was dealing with many times now it has come forward with newest type of lunar rover which is called VIPER rover, the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover which will be launched ahead of Artemis program approximately in the year 2024.

 You know dust can be light and fluffy or compacted and heavy. This is main challenge for engineers how to deal with dust for viper rover. Therefore rover is designed to be able tomove sideways and diagonally so it can deal with various surfaces.

This programs will boost them to send first WOMAN and next MAN to lunar surface in 2024 through Artemis program.
